SAINT PAUL, MN – The Saint Paul City Council is honored to welcome Minnesota State Economist Dr. Anthony Becker to its upcoming Budget Committee meeting on June 4, where he will provide an overview of Minnesota’s current economic outlook and discuss key trends impacting the state and Saint Paul.

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to informed, data-driven policymaking, the presentation will offer valuable insight into macroeconomic trends, regional labor markets, inflation, and the broader fiscal landscape.

“Our Council is committed to passing a budget that takes into account our city’s needs and values, as well as the
fiscal uncertainty of this moment,” said Council President Rebecca Noecker. “Understanding the overall economic
outlook for the state of Minnesota is critical to passing a responsible, forward-looking budget.”

“I am honored to have Dr. Anthony Becker present on his expertise in econometrics, particularly in the analysis and forecasting of time-series data. With the budget season upon us, it is crucial for my colleagues and I to understand insights into financial data trends and have all the facts and tools to help us make informed decisions on the city budget.”

The presentation is part of the Council’s broader efforts to increase transparency, incorporate expert perspectives, and ensure Saint Paul remains on a path toward inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
