One dead after domestic dispute in Saint Paul’s Union Park neighborhood

Saint Paul police officers responding to reports of a domestic disturbance found a woman dead in an apartment early Wednesday, Feb. 26.

The calls to 911 came in just after midnight, and when officers got to the apartment on the 300 block of Pierce Street North they found a disturbing scene—an unresponsive woman who was with a man and a young child.

Officers secured the scene by detaining the man and making sure the child was safe. They also called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who arrived a short time later and pronounced the woman dead without transporting her to a hospital.

At this time, the nature and cause of her injuries has not been determined.

The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation and then to police headquarters to be interviewed. He was later booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of murder.

The child, whose exact relationship to the adults has yet to be determined, was taken to another hospital for evaluation.

The department’s Forensic Service Unit will process the scene and the Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine her exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
