Saint Paul police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead the early morning hours of Saturday, May 4.
After receiving numerous 911 calls reporting shots fired, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of University Ave West at approximately 2 a.m. on a report of a male shot.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Saint Paul Fire Department Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
Officers secured the scene and attempted to identify any witnesses to this incident. Only one person agreed to speak with officers. Investigators are asking anyone who was there or who knows what happened to call the Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
The Ramsey County medical examiner will positively identify the victim and determine an exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
