Saint Paul, MN — Today, the City of Saint Paul and Xcel Energy announced a partnership to offer free Home Energy Squad® visits for income-qualifying Saint Paul households. The Home Energy Squad® helps provide smart fixes to households like swapping out old light bulbs for new energy-efficient LEDs, upgrading showerheads, installing programmable thermostats, weather-stripping doors and checking for air leaks – all to help save energy and money.

“We are excited to team up with Xcel Energy to offer free Home Energy Squad visits to residents who need it most,” said Saint Paul Chief Resilience Officer Russ Stark. "Through this program, we can help build a more resilient, sustainable Saint Paul."

“Ensuring our city can become more energy efficient will help build community wealth,” said Saint Paul Planning and Economic Development Director Bruce Corrie. “Partnering with Xcel Energy is a great opportunity that will make a real difference for our residents.”

Residents can learn more about accessing Home Energy Squad® visits by calling 651-328-6220.

Information will also be available at Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Centers that sponsor weekly senior programming including El Rio Vista Recreation Center, Hancock Recreation Center, Highland Park Community Center, Langford Recreation Center, Northwest Como Recreation Center, Phalen Recreation Center, West Minnehaha Recreation Center, and at the upcoming Safe Summer Night event on August 8 at the Arlington Hills Community Center.
