The first 911 call reporting gunshots came in just before 10 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Several more quickly followed, and officers responding to the area of the East Side found the victim—a male inside a car near the intersection of Minnehaha Avenue East and North Cypress Street.

Officers rendered aid and called for St. Paul Fire medics. Unfortunately the victim died at the scene.

Members of the Saint Paul Police Department’s Homicide, Gang and Forensic Services Units are working to find out who the victim is, what he was doing before he was shot and who is responsible for his death.

No arrests had been made early Sunday morning. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call homicide investigators at 651-266-5650.

Once the scene is processed for evidence, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will take possession of the victim’s body and conduct an autopsy to positively identify him and determine his cause of death.

This information, along with any other updates on the case, will be released on the police department’s Twitter page, @sppdmn.
