Saint Paul police are investigating after a man was shot and killed late Tuesday night.

Officers were called to a fight at a house on the 500 block of Blair Avenue in the city’s Frogtown neighborhood at about 10:15 p.m. While on the way to the scene, dispatchers at the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center let officers know that shots had been fired and a person had been struck by gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers found a chaotic scene and a man believed to be in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers rendered aid, secured the scene and made sure it was safe for Saint Paul Fire medics. The victim was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Now, members of the police department’s homicide and forensic services units are collecting evidence, looking for possible witnesses and working to determine who shot the man and why.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and investigators do not believe the shooting was random. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the police department’s twitter page (@sppdmn).

This is the 37th homicide of the year in Saint Paul.
