A man in his 30s is dead and Saint Paul police are looking for the person who shot him Monday night in the city’s Hamline-Midway neighborhood.

The Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting on the 500 block of Prior Avenue North at about 9:30 p.m. Officers rushed to the scene and found the victim lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The first officers to arrive immediately rendered aid while others secured the scene and summoned Saint Paul Fire medics. The victim was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  

Investigators with the police department’s homicide unit are currently looking for possible witnesses while members of the forensic services and video management units collect evidence.

As of Tuesday morning, no suspects have been identified, no motive has been determined and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.

This is the second homicide of the year in the City of Saint Paul.
