The Saint Paul Police Department has located two suspects in an early morning shooting that left three people dead and another gravely injured on Friday, April 7.

The first suspect has been booked into the Ramsey County Jail on three counts of aiding and abetting murder, one count of aiding and abetting attempted murder and one count of kidnapping. The suspect was found by a team of officers and a K-9 hiding in a shed with an 18-month-old girl. The second suspect was found dead (the fourth death related to this case) later in the morning by officers canvassing the area where the shooting occurred. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the suspect to determine a cause of death.

Crime Scene

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what led to the shootings and what role each suspect played, although it is believed that one of the suspects was the shooter.

Homicide investigators are also working to understand the relationships between the suspects and the victims, although it is believed they were known to each other.

The shootings occurred just before 1 a.m. at an apartment building on the 1600 block of English Street. Officers responding to a report of shots fired found the four victims and called for Saint Paul fire medics to respond to the scene. Three adult victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one was transported to a local hospital, where the victim remains in critical condition.

This case remains open and active as investigators continue to interview witnesses and the Forensic Services Unit continues to process the scene for evidence.

No further information will be released until the medical examiner completes autopsies to determine exact causes of death for all involved and positively identify victims.

Any additional information will be released via the Police Department’s Twitter account, @SPPDpio.
