Wabasha Street closed from Plato Boulevard to Cesar Chavez due to slope failure
No injuries or damage to private property reported

Saint Paul (April 28, 2018) – The City of Saint Paul has closed Wabasha Street from Plato Boulevard to Cesar Chavez due to an unexpected slope failure. The incident, which was reported to authorities around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, scattered large debris from the rock formation above across Wabasha Street. No injuries or damage to private property were reported.

City officials immediately closed the street and barricaded the area. The city is bringing in experts to review the stability of the slope and surrounding area. Wabasha Street will remain closed until a full assessment can be made of the bluff, and crews can safely work in the area.

City officials are asking the public to keep clear of the area, and plan alternative walking and driving routes until further notice.
