Department vehicles will only be driven by department or city employees, unless otherwise authorized by the chief of police, assistant chief, or a deputy chief. Vehicles will only be used in the course of the employee’s duties. Written permission for ride-a-longs (of non-department personnel) will be processed through the community engagement unit. A waiver will be signed and the party will comply with all procedures as stated in General Order 333.00: Community and Volunteer Services Unit.
