Join the Germanic-American Institute for its first Culture Series event of 2016, a film screening of the documentary Rotkohl und Blaukraut (its English name is "Turkish Kraut") . The film follows two families with German and Turkish backgrounds in Germany's Ruhr region. Through the parents and children's interactions within their family and greater society, Rotkohl und Blaukraut explores the balance and connection between different cultures, religions, and traditions, as well as what it means to be German today. Free and open to the public, this screening includes a post film discussion led by Maria Hoffmann, University of Minnesota PhD candidate and documentary film specialist.
