Shared ownership is a strategy that fuels vibrant and resilient local economies, creates quality jobs and addresses wealth and income inequality. It offers alternative models of economic development and promotes local and broad-based ownership. Shared ownership is a community wealth building strategy.

In 2024, OFE launched the LOCAL Fund, a program that utilizes shared ownership models as wealth-building tools for communities who have historically been excluded from owning and benefitting from capital assets like homes and businesses. The Fund is comprised of two programs, both funded via $2.5 million in ARPA dollars: 1) Community Ownership program and 2) Worker Ownership program.

OFE and our partners, Project Equity, Nexus Community Partners, and Living Cities also hosted a Shared Ownership Equity Summit, a one-day event, that aimed to expand knowledge of shared ownership, highlight local success stories, and support the growth and development of our shared ownership ecosystem.
