All-Star Park at Gilbert de la O Fields
Project Overview Overview:The City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation has secured funding to renovate the existing ball fields at El Rio Vista - Gilbert de la O fields. Two major funding sources include our local CIB program and a grant from Major League Baseball.
Phase I - Major League Baseball funded youth baseball field
In July 2014, the Twin Cities will play host to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. As part of the events surrounding the All-Star game, the City of Saint Paul received a grant from Major League Baseball to renovate the youth baseball field at the Gilbert de la O fields. The improvements include a 200' irrigated natural turf playing field, lighting, new fencing, covered dugouts, and a new scoreboard. Work on the field will be complete by mid June in order to provide enough time for the sod field to establish in time for the July All-Star Game. Project updates
May 6, 2014Today, we held a Pre-Construction meeting with the contractor for the Griggs Play Area. He indicated they plan to start on May 19th and should have construction wrapped up in about two months (Mid-July)
Phase II - Multipurpose Field
