8 80 Vitality Fellow

As a part of the city’s effort to create vibrant places and spaces, the city hired Margaret Jones as its 8 80 Vitality Fellow to help implement this vision across all city departments. Her role is to embed the concepts of building cities that are welcoming to people of all ages and abilities into current and future projects, as well as other aspects of city government to help the city compete and thrive in a 21st century economy.

Margaret has been deeply committed to enriching Saint Paul since 1989. During this time, she has worked with groups such as the Wilder Foundation, Saint Paul Public School District, the Science Museum of Minnesota, Americorps, and Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning. Most recently, she served as the executive director of the Lexington-Hamline Community Council, where she led successful efforts to build a new park, implement a low-interest home improvement loan program, replace fencing around Central High School, and initiated a new program to help seniors live well at home.

The 8 80 Vitality Fellow position is funded with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
