The City of Saint Paul is committed to building vibrant, revitalized communities through reclaiming brownfields. Brownfield redevelopments return environmentally impacted and underused properties to productive use. By redeveloping brownfields, the City, along with its partners, will help generate economic growth, increase the tax base, add jobs to the community, and enable sustainable land use and development.

The City works with property owners to ensure that redevelopment plans match the City’s long-range plans and to help facilitate the cleanup process. State and federal environmental organizations conduct environmental site assessments to identify contaminants and evaluate environmental risks, and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency oversees the cleanup of brownfields to ensure regulations are being met.
