Pop Up Meeting

Pop Up Meeting is a unique, interactive way to encourage community engagement. Created by Public Art Saint Paul’s Artist in Residence, Amanda Lovelee, pop up meetings are an opportunity for community members to become more informed about projects going on throughout Saint Paul and share ideas and feedback.

The pop up meeting is an alternative way for community members to participate in Saint Paul’s project planning processes and other City programs and initiatives. We have found that this unique meeting format works well to reach people who are unable to come to formal public meetings in the past. Previous pop-up meetings have included participation by people within a variety of ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.

Pop up meetings have involved discussions on topics such as the Ford redevelopment site, Little Mekong Plaza, the Grand Round and more. During the summer of 2016, more than 1,600 people filled out surveys at pop-up meetings, and almost 70 percent of those people had never attended a public planning meeting before.

Community voices have a direct impact on citywide projects, which is why we are encouraging feedback and input from all Saint Paul residents in a variety of ways.
