Saint Paul police officers responding to a report of a stabbing in the city’s North End neighborhood found a woman dead inside an apartment Sunday afternoon.

The call to 911 came in just before 2:30 p.m., and when officers got to the apartment on the 100 block of Larpenteur Ave. West, they found a disturbing scene—an unresponsive woman in her 40s who was suffering from a stab wound to chest.

Officers secured the scene and began to render aid. They called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who arrived a short time later and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

A team of homicide investigators was called in to respond. The department’s Forensic Service Unit will process the scene and the Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine her exact cause of death.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call our homicide unit at 651-266-5650.

The victim’s identity, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
