Notice of Vacancies for Saint Paul City Council Audit Committee

SAINT PAUL (MN) – Today, the Saint Paul City Council Audit Committee is reaching out to the public to fill two Community Advisors appointment vacancies and is accepting applications.  Saint Paul residents are encouraged to apply and serve as key members of the community. To learn more about the work of the Committee, you are encouraged to visit www.stpaul.gov/auditcommittee.

The mission of the Audit Committee is “to evaluate the performance of City functions, programs and processes to build public trust and ensure outstanding service delivery, transparency and accountability.”

“As a Council, it is our responsibility to ensure that we’re making the best use of every dollar to provide outstanding public services. The audit function is a crucial way to accomplish this oversight,” said Co-chair Rebecca Noecker.

Saint Paul residents who are interested in serving in an advisory role to the Audit Committee meet once monthly to provide guidance throughout its annual audit process through the completion of each study. The community advisors will serve a three-year term. The ideal applicant should have a deep interest in making Saint Paul City government work well for residents. To apply, applicants are asked to fill out an on-line application (https://forms.office.com/g/c8cWy5XKYh) no later than Friday, March 4, 2022, by 4:30 PM.

The Audit Committee was formed as part of the City Council Organizational Committee’s 2019 work plan.  Most recently, the Audit Committee completed its first study which was presented to the City Council on January 26, 2022, and shared with the Administration and Department Directors.

According to Co-chair Jane Prince, “In my experience, audits performed by City Council have been one of the most effective tools in providing strong and effective governance.”
