Description
The Saint Paul Sewer Utility has hired Peterson Companies to clean and modify the Flandrau-Case stormwater pond to increase stormwater storage capacity and improve the treatment of stormwater runoff.

This stormwater pond was originally constructed in 1989-1990. Since then, the effectiveness of the pond in treating stormwater runoff has declined and it has become overgrown with additional vegetation that impacts the overall efficiency and needs to be addressed.

Stormwater pond work includes:

  • Removal of stormwater pond sediments, debris, and trees
  • Pond excavation, site grading, and installation of an iron enhanced sand filter
  • Storm sewer and structure modifications
  • Plantings and vegetation restoration

Location

  • Behind Sackett Park and the East Side Boys and Girls Club—southwest of the intersection of Ames Avenue East and Kingsford Street, and north of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Omaha Railroad
