Ivy-Birmingham Residential Street Resurfacing

Work Completed/Underway This Week

• Continued concrete removals throughout the project area.
• Removed sidewalk, curb, and gutter at several locations.
• Placed new concrete curb and sidewalk at:
  • Southeast and southwest corners of Ivy Avenue and Birmingham Street
  • Ivy Avenue and Etna Street
  • Ivy Avenue and Hazelwood Street
  • Hazelwood Street and Clear Avenue
  • Hazelwood Street and Cottage Avenue

Work Anticipated Next Week

• Continue concrete removals throughout the project area.
• Place new curb and gutter at the northeast and northwest corners of the intersections listed above.
• Begin sidewalk removals at individual locations throughout the neighborhood.
• Continue sidewalk replacement.
• All scheduled work is weather permitting and may change based on site conditions.

Traffic Impacts

• Streets are expected to remain open during construction.
• Construction vehicles and equipment may temporarily make some areas more difficult to access.
• Pedestrian access may be temporarily adjusted as sidewalk work progresses.
• Please use caution around active work areas and follow all posted traffic-control devices.

• Marked areas throughout the project for upcoming removals.
• Placed new concrete curb at locations along Clarence Street.

• Continue concrete sidewalk and curb-and-gutter removals throughout the project area.
• Place new concrete curb at Birmingham Street and Ivy Avenue, Hazelwood Street and Ivy Avenue, as well as locations along Clear Avenue, Cottage Avenue, and Sherwood Avenue.
• Begin sidewalk replacement work.

Sidewalk Work

• Sidewalk replacement is scheduled to begin the week of September 7 and is expected to take approximately three weeks.
• Portions of the sidewalk may be temporarily closed or unavailable while crews are working.
• Access to homes and properties will be maintained, although there may be short-term inconveniences while work is taking place nearby.
• Crews will move between locations throughout the neighborhood and may return to some areas as needed to complete the work.

Street Milling and Paving

• After sidewalk work is complete, crews will remove approximately two inches of the existing pavement surface and place a new layer of asphalt.
• Milling and paving work is expected to take approximately one week.
• This work will move through the neighborhood as crews progress from street to street.
• Driveway access may be temporarily limited while crews are working directly in front of a property, but access will be restored as work moves forward.
