Project Map
Roadway resurfacing on the residential streets in the Ivy-Birmingham area.
Last Edited: January 30, 2026
Description
Residential streets in the Ivy-Birmingham area will be resurfaced in 2026 through a process called mill and overlay to create a smoother roadway surface. Crews grind off the top layer of roadway, then replace it with a new layer of bituminous (asphalt) pavement.
As part of this project, additional pedestrian improvements will be made in some areas. Curb ramps at corners will be reconstructed to meet the American with Disability Act (ADA) standards and will make walking and rolling easier and more comfortable.

The city works to minimize the construction impacts to trees wherever possible. Tree removals and replacements are part of every street construction project as construction activities can be damaging to adjacent boulevard trees. This project is expected to have minimal impacts to trees.
Tree removals will be completed by April 14, 2026, due to endangered species habitat regulations. Trees to be removed will be marked in advance with paint, with a red X on the trunk. Additional trees may need to be removed during construction.
