Overview
The Civil Division provides legal advice to the City’s elected officials, to all City departments and all City boards and commissions.
The Civil Division is made up of:
- One Deputy City Attorney
- Thirteen Assistant City Attorneys
- Two paralegals
- Two law clerks
- Three clerical staff

Mission
Office of City Attorney
To represent the City in its legal affairs with integrity, professionalism, and collegiality.
Civil Division
To provide excellent and dedicated legal service to the City, the Mayor, the City Council, and all City departments and client organizations in order to assist in achieving policy goals, while respecting the rights of individuals and of the public generally.
