About Blooming Saint Paul Showcase

The Blooming Saint Paul Showcase highlights amazing gardens as well as stories from residents and business owners who are dedicated to enhancing the Saint Paul community through gardening. This virtual celebration recognizes honorees who have been nominated by the community.

The nomination period for 2022 has closed, but nominations will begin again in May 2023.

City staff and Ramsey County Master Gardener volunteers contact individuals who were nominated to invite honorees to introduce us to their garden, share their gardening secrets, or tell us why they are a gardener. Their story may arrive in writing, in a video, or as a work of art. We celebrate all nominees online through social media posts in the fall and our website during the rest of the year. Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Blooming Saint Paul Awards nomination process. We received many wonderful entries. However, due to ongoing challenges and uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to judge and rank this year’s nominees. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

We will also be celebrating the Landmark Tree program to introduce you to remarkable trees in the City of Saint Paul.

What were the nomination criteria?
• All gardens, trees and groups must be within Saint Paul city limits
• All nominations on private property must be visible from the public realm: sidewalks, streets or alleys

• Alley gardens must have an address clearly visible from alley
• Gardens maintained by the City Parks Department are not eligible

Blooming Saint Paul Awards (2011-2019)

From 2011-2019 the Blooming Saint Paul Awards was a collaborative initiative between Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, the Saint Paul Garden Club, and the Ramsey County Master Gardeners. The program was presented by the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and the Capitol Region Watershed District. The Blooming Saint Paul Awards helped recognize residents and businesses who are dedicated to enhancing their local communities through landscaping.

We recognized nominated gardens, trees or groups in seven different categories. Each category recognized the top three nominations with Golden Bloom, Silver Bloom, and Bronze Bloom awards.
