A Liquor Extension of Service Area - Temporary License allows a licensed City of Saint Paul liquor establishment to sell or serve intoxicating liquors in areas outside the building structure which are immediately adjacent to and contiguous with the structure containing the licensed premises. There is a limit of 12 such extensions per location per calendar year.

Your temporary license application will need the following information/required document(s):
- Proof of current Secretary of State registration and Assumed Name Filing
- Attach a copy of the required notice that you must provide at least 15 days in advance of the event to all owners within 350 feet (a mailing list can be obtained by calling (651) 266-8989) that includes the event location, date and time.
- The notice must also include the statement: “If any person has comments about this proposed temporary extension of liquor service, they are encouraged to telephone the public information and complaint office at (651) 266-8989.” Please see Example Letter.
- A Sound Level Variance or Amplified Sound Permit may be required (Chapter 293 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code). Contact Information at 651-266-8989.

Expiration/Renewal: A Liquor - Extension of Service Area (Temporary) License is valid only during the date(s) and time(s) of the specific event.
