Description
The project was funded by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The federal grant was terminated in October 2025 by the U.S. Department of Energy. Due to the lack of federal funding the project was not completed.

The project was to install new on-street electric vehicle charging stations at five locations on the East Side of Saint Paul. Each charging station would have included two dual-port level 2 chargers, with one charger dedicated to Evie carshare and the other dedicated to public charging.

The exact locations of the EV chargers had not yet been determined. In 2024 and 2025 the city engaged the community in determining the locations where these chargers would be best used to meet community needs. The city was working with a consultant (SRF) on this community engagement effort.

If future funding allows, the city will install additional electric vehicle charging stations on the East Side of Saint Paul based on the community engagement completed in 2024 and 2025.
