Guidelines
Guidelines
-
- To help users navigate between key sections or pages where emphasis and clarity are important.
- When you need a highly visible navigation option, such as in menus, dashboards, or step-based processes.
- For calls to action that should stand out compared to inline links.
- On smaller layouts (like mobile) where button-based navigation is easier to tap than text links.
-
- Avoid using button nav for long lists of links; use a traditional navigation menu instead.
- Don’t use it if standard text links are more appropriate for subtle, inline navigation.
- Avoid mixing button nav with too many other button styles on the same page—this reduces clarity and hierarchy.
- Don’t overload a button nav with secondary or low-priority links; keep it focused.
-
- Ensure each button is labeled clearly and describes its destination or action.
- Provide a clear description of where the buttons will lead to.
