SPPD is committed to community engagement

Promoting officer engagement with the community has been a cornerstone of the Saint Paul Police Department for many years. In 2019 and consistent with this dedication, Chief Axtell created a Community Engagement Division (CED) to further develop ways for patrol officers to interact, build trust, provide trusted service with respect and engage the community.

In 2017, the department hired four Community Engagement Specialists.  Each of the specialists represent a diverse community represented within Saint Paul and they have proven themselves as invaluable resources for the department and the communities served every day.
