Summer Closure Notice

Great River Water Park is closed for the summer season and will reopen September 21, 2026. Please visit Como Regional Park Pool, Highland Park Aquatic Center, or Phalen Beach for summer swimming or one of our splash pads for outdoor aquatic fun. 

Fall Swimming Lesson Registration

Fall swimming lesson registration opens Monday, August 17, 2026 at 9am. Lessons will be available to view online starting Friday, August. 14. 

Fall Season Opener

Great River Water Park will be open Sept. 21, 2026 - May 27, 2027. See Programs and Activities below for hours.

Special Hours

Great River Water Park will be open for special SPPS no-school day open swim hours from1:30pm-5:30pm on the following days:

  • Oct. 15-16, 2026
  • Dec. 28-31, 2026
  • Jan 18, 2027
  • Feb. 15, 2027
  • April 5-8, 2027


 

About Great River Water Park

Young children play in a shallow indoor pool. There are several water features, including multiple fountains, and a play structure.

Great River Water Park is Saint Paul's premier indoor aquatics facility. It offers several programs and amenities, including:

  • Two water slides
  • Lap swim pool
  • Children's activity pool
  • Diving board
  • Sauna
  • Water aerobics
  • Swimming lessons

Great River Water Park is also home to several community programs - for safety, sports, or just to have fun in the water. Learn more about these programs below.

Great River Water Park is located inside the Oxford Community Center in Saint Paul's Summit-University neighborhood. 

Great River Water Park is open in the fall, winter, and spring. For summer swimming, explore our outdoor facilities: Phalen Park Beach, Como Regional Park Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center.

Work With Us! Lifeguard Training and Jobs

We offer two lifeguard training programs for young people:

  • Lifeguard Prep (ages 13 to 17): This training helps young people develop advanced swimming and water safety skills.
  • Lifeguard Training Certification Course (ages 15 and up): This is an American Red Cross lifeguard certification class. Students who successfully complete training will earn their lifeguard certification.
