About Ward 5
Ward 5 is located in the north-central part of the city and includes parts of the Como, North End, Payne-Phalen and Railroad Island neighborhoods. The ward is bordered to the west by Lake Como and the world-class Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Spanning east, Ward 5 encompasses Loeb Lake, the Rice Street business corridor, the new Trout Brook Nature Preserve and extends past 35E to Edgerton Avenue. Ward 5 is one of the most diverse areas of the city and offers a variety of housing, recreation and commercial opportunities for residents and visitors.
About Councilmember Brendmoen
Amy Brendmoen and her family reside in the South Como neighborhood. Before taking office in January 2012, Amy worked as Director of Marketing and Communications at a Saint Paul-based nonprofit family service agency. Additionally, she has worked in the private sector at a local advertising agency and has over a decade of experience as a Consumer Advocate in the Office of the State Attorney General. Amy seeks opportunities to be outdoors and exploring with her family, both within the city limits as well as out in the woods and beyond.
In her first term in office, Amy prioritized accessibility to her constituents and consistent, clear communication. She uses social media outlets to engage her community members, including “Online Office Hours” and has a strong presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. In addition, she holds regular community office hours at Rice Street Library to make it easy for her community to share their ideas and concerns. Amy is also always willing to take a walk around Como Lake or in a Ward 5 neighborhood to exchange ideas. She is open-minded, thoughtful and believes that great ideas bloom from all places.
In her role, Amy serves on several commissions and boards: Saint Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Chair; Saint Paul Library Board; Saint Paul Regional Water Services Board of Water Commissioners, Vice-Chair; Rush Line Corridor Commission and Policy Advisory Committee; Joint Property Tax Advisory Committee; Visit Saint Paul- Convention and Visitors Bureau; Metro Cities- Association of Metropolitan Municipalities; Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; Minnesota Board of Landmarks and Minneapolis/Saint Paul Housing Finance Board.

Community Office Hours
Visit with Councilmember Brendmoen at Community Office Hours on the First and Third Tuesdays of each month, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Rice Street Library. Walk-ins welcome. If you need more than 10-15 minutes for a visit, please schedule a meeting by calling 651-266-8650 or emailing.In addition to Community Office Hours, Councilmember Brendmoen also offers "Lake Lap" walking meetings around Lake Como with constituents.
