Description

Orange Forest is a Lead Free SPRWS project. Lead Free SPRWS is a 10 year plan to replace all lead water service lines in the SPRWS service area at no cost to property owners.

Lead service lines were primarily installed in the City of St. Paul from late 1880’s to the late 1920’s. For 25 years Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) has been replacing lead water service lines within the street right-of-way to reduce the possibility of lead exposure.

Private Lead Service Line Replacements: Customers in this project area who have a private lead service line are eligible to have it replaced at no cost as part of the new Lead Free SPRWS program. You should have received a letter with instructions on next steps if you qualify. To learn more visit our Lead Free SPRWS page.

2026 Construction Season

  • August 24 Update: 75 lead service line replacements completed
    • Crews currently working on
      • Hyacinth Ave E between Mendota St and Orange Ave E
    • Partial road closures:
      • Hyacinth Ave E between Mendota St and Orange Ave E, scheduled to open September 4
    • Roads will be closed during construction with local access
  • August 18 Update: 46 lead service line replacements completed
    • Crews currently working on
      • Orange Ave between Arcade St and Ivy Ave E
    • Partial road closures:
      • Orange Ave between Arcade and Ivy, scheduled to open 8/28
    • Roads will be closed during construction with local access
  • August 3 Update: 0 lead service line replacements completed
    • Crews currently working on
      • Hawthorne Ave E between Earl St and Johnson Pkwy
    • Partial road closures:
      • Hawthorne Ave E between Earl St and Johnson Pkwy, scheduled to open August 14
    • Roads will be closed during construction with local access
  • June 11 Update: Work scheduled to begin late August/early September

Replacements

This project will replace approximately 151 lead water service lines.
