Saint Paul Police Explorer Post

1. History

   The Saint Paul Police Explorer Post #454 is sponsored by the Saint Paul Police Department and is affiliated with the Exploring Division of the North Star Council, Boys Scouts of America. As an explorer, you will receive scenario-based training. Explorers travel to state and national competitions and conferences to test their new skills against other posts.

   Upon completion of required trainings, Explorers assist the Saint Paul Police Department, the City of Saint Paul and its citizens in providing for the safety and order of our community. As part of this Explorer Post, you can volunteer to assist the police department with events such as the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, Minnesota State Fair, and Taste of Minnesota.

2. Requirements

   • Between the ages of 14 and 20
   • $70.00 fee (payable to Boy Scouts)
     • Assistance available if needed

3. Training

   • Basic first aid and CPR
   • Minnesota State Statutes and Saint Paul City Ordinances
   • Saint Paul Police Department policy and procedures
   • Scenario-based training in 12 law enforcement-related topics

4. Meetings

   • Held at the Richard Rowan Training Center building (600 Lafayette Road)
   • Every Tuesday night from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
