Overview
In 2025, the National Association of Realtors chose White Bear Avenue, primarily the portion in the Hillcrest neighborhood, to study for their “Transforming Neighborhoods” project. This project had national consultants come to the neighborhood in August to interview stakeholders to develop a plan for the corridor.
A portion of the 2025 Commercial Corridor Organization Assistance Program funds awarded to the Greater East Side Community Council (GESCC) was used for beautifying the corridor and hosting a neighborhood event on National Night Out for the consultants and district council to engage with residents and businesses. GESCC will use the funds to begin implementation of the plan which will include creating a marketing strategy for rebranding and promoting the corridor to potential business owners. GESCC will also market the corridor through a new corridor website.
