Sewer Permits for Contractors

Saint Paul Public Works Sewer Utility issues a Sewer Construction Permit for the construction of new sewer connections to serve properties within Saint Paul. This permit applies to new buildings or developments needing direct access to the municipal sewer system. Permit holders must comply with all city standards for sewer construction, including required inspections and documentation, to ensure a safe and effective connection to the public sewer infrastructure.

Saint Paul Public Works Sewer Utility issues a Sewer Repair Permit for sewer repairs, including spot repairs, full line replacements, and the optional addition of a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner. This permit applies to the repair, extension, or replacement of an existing sewer line. Permit holders must comply with all city standards for sewer construction, including required inspections and documentation, to ensure a safe and effective repair of an existing sewer line.

Saint Paul Public Works Sewer Utility issues a Sewer Abandonment Permit to ensure the safe and proper abandonment of sewer connections that are no longer in use. This permit applies to the disconnection, sealing, or decommissioning of sewer lines. Permit holders must comply with all city standards for sewer construction, including required inspections and documentation, to ensure that abandoned sewers do not compromise public infrastructure or environmental safety.

Saint Paul Public Works Sewer Utility issues a Cured-In-Place Permit for the installation of a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner to repair existing sewer lines without excavation. This permit applies to trenchless repairs within property boundaries on existing sewer lines. Permit holders must comply with all city standards for sewer construction, including required inspections and documentation, to ensure a safe and effective installation of a cured-in-place pipe liner.

Gopher State One-Call Requests

Call before you dig! All contractors and sub-contractors are responsible for all reasonable efforts to identify underground facilities (including private sewer service laterals), as well as compliance with all Gopher State One-Call (GSOC) requirements such as potholing activities to verify location identification.
