Paint the Pavement Information

1. How do I start the Paint the Pavement process?

   • Select a potential location based on location guidelines (see Where can a paint a Pavement mural be painted?)
   • Determine who will be involved in the Paint the Pavement – organization(s), neighbors, etc.
   • Determine the proposed artwork or mural design
   • Contact Jeannette Rebar at 651-266-6125 or jeannette.rebar@ci.stpaul.mn.us. 

2. Where can a Paint the Pavement mural be painted?

   • Murals can be painted on Saint Paul owned residential streets. For an intersection mural, both streets must be Saint Paul owned residential streets
   • Residential streets in Saint Paul are typically 20 mph, have daily traffic volumes of 500 vehicle or less, and do not have centerline paint, bike lanes or sharrows, or traffic signals – visit www.stpaul.gov/speedlimitmap as a guide to determine if a street is city owned and has a speed limit of 20 mph
   • Murals can be painted at intersections or along the street block not at an intersection
   • Location has to be approved by Public Works Traffic Engineering and adjacent residents
