Parks & Recreation Special Notices & Closures
- Lockwood Park: Mattocks Park will be closed from Oct. 1-2 for removal of debris from the existing play surface and to add additional sand to restore depth and improve impact protection.
- Mattocks Park: Mattocks Park will be closed from Oct. 12-16 for removal of debris from the existing play surface and to add additional sand to restore depth and improve impact protection.
- Phalen Regional Park Bike Path: The bike path on the north side of Phalen Regional Park will be closed from Larpenteur Ave to the boat launch parking lot on the northwest side of the lake for a paving project starting the week of Oct. 12. The closure is expected to last 1-2 weeks.
- Swede Hollow Park/Bruce Vento Regional Trail: Due to risk of falling debris, the section of Bruce Vento Regional Trail that goes through the historic tunnel in Swede Hollow Park under East 7th Street, known as the Seventh Street Improvement Arches, will be closed until further evaluation can be completed by the city, county, and MnDOT. UPDATE October 2026: The City of Saint Paul’s Public Works Bridge Division has finalized a plan to safely reopen the Bruce Vento Regional Trail through the 7th Street Improvement Arches located in Swede Hollow Park. The temporary long-term solution includes fencing and the construction of a protective cover that will allow bikes, pedestrians, and maintenance vehicles to safely pass through the tunnel. The city is in the process of finalizing contracts and expect contractors to begin work in October. Depending on contracts and construction, the trail is anticipated to reopen in early November. - I35E Bridge Trail: The trail along the I-35E bridge over the Mississippi River is now closed through Fall 2026 for multi-agency maintenance. Bikes and pedestrians will be detoured across the High Bridge. The Sam Morgan Regional Trail remains open through the tunnel on the west side of the Mississippi River near Shepard Rd.
- Crosby Farm Regional Park: The boardwalk is closed due to damage from flooding events. Please be aware of closed trail signage and do not pass barriers. Construction on the new fishing pier is now complete. Visit the Crosby Farm Regional Park project page for updates on boardwalk construction.
- Mississippi River Area Updates: Roads, trails, amenities, and sections of parkland along the Mississippi River may be closed at times due to flooding, construction, events, restoration, ice, snow, or other conditions. Please be aware that water levels can change quickly and without warning. Please obey all barriers and signage. Do not trespass into closed areas.
