A Plumbing/Gasfitter Business Trade License allows a person to install and repair drainage, water, gas, and other piping systems in homes, businesses, and factories. They can install plumbing fixtures, such as bathtubs and toilets, and appliances, such as dishwashers and water heaters. They can clean drains, remove obstructions, and repair or replace broken pipes and fixtures.

Apply for a Plumbing/Gasfitter License in PAULIE

Your business trade license application will need the following required document(s):

  • A current City of Saint Paul Certificate of Competency (Master Plumbing/Gasfitter)
  • A Certificate of Insurance with a combined single limit of liability for bodily injury and property damage of $500,000; or $500,000 bodily injury and $200,000 property damage and thirty (30) day notice of cancellation
    • Our department must be listed as a certificate holder as follows: City of Saint Paul, DSI, 375 Jackson Street, Suite 220, Saint Paul MN 55101.
  • Both a $25,000 Plumbing Contractor Bond (PC) AND a $25,000 Mechanical Bond (MB) are now required to be filed with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry
  • Proof of Worker's Compensation

Fees: The annual fee for trade licenses is $188.00 each.

Expiration/Renewal: All Trade Licenses expire on December 1 and may be renewed annually.
