Overview
This license is for the individual in immediate control of the movement of a taxicab, pedicab and pedal car. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. If you have questions, contact DSI at 651-266-8989, or email the DSI Message Center.
Code Requirements
See Chapter 376 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code for information about taxicab drivers. See Chapter 375 for pedicab drivers. See Chapter 374 for pedal car drivers.
Application Requirements
You must submit the following:
- DSI Taxicab, Pedicab, Pedal Car Driver License Application
- A copy of the applicant's current State of Minnesota Driver's License (Drivers who have been licensed out of state in the last 10 years must provide an official copy of their driving record for the last 10 years from the Department of Transportation in the State in which they were licensed.)
- Required fee
Taxicab Driver Training Course
Provisionally licensed drivers must complete a training course designed to enhance their proficiency in all aspects of taxicab driving including topics such as knowledge of the Saint Paul taxicab ordinance, metro-area geographical awareness, map-reading skills, safe driving, and customer relations.

Expiration/Renewal
A Taxicab Driver License will expire one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed annually.
