Overview

Vehicle engaged in the hauling of putrescible and non-putrescible solid waste, except body wastes, and includes garbage and rubbish.

Any container or dumpster placed on public property requires a Use of Street permit, issued by the Public Works department.

Application Requirements

Apply online at PAULIE*

  • Information needed for your online application:
    • Proof of current Secretary of State registration and Assumed Name Filing
    • Business Purchase Agreement (Only for Change of Ownership applications)
    • Property Lease / rental agreement or proof of ownership
    • General Liability Insurance with $100,000 bodily injury per person, $300,000 bodily injury per accident, and $50,000 property damage per accident
    • Automobile Liability Insurance with $100,000 bodily injury per person, $300,000 bodily injury per accident, and $50,000 property damage per accident. Must have 30 day notice of cancellation. (Note: The VIN and state plate number of vehicle to be licensed on insurance certificate.)
    • Regional Mixed Municipal Waste License
    • A schedule of charges
    • Approved truck inspection conducted by the DSI Licensing Division, please call 651-266-8989.
      • Vehicle photos may be submitted for the truck inspection. Include the following photos for each truck looking to be licensed
        • Front, Both Sides, and Back of Vehicle
        • The name of the licensee in block letters not less than two (2) inches high, painted in a contrasting color
        • License plate on vehicle
        • Photo of VIN found on vehicle
    • Business Purchase Agreement (Only for Change of Ownership applications)
    • Property Lease / rental agreement or proof of ownership

Expiration/Renewal

A Solid Waste Hauler License will expire one year from the date of application or upon expiration of general and auto liability insurance. This license is renewed annually.
